UTICA, NY- The Utica College volleyball team dropped both games of its Empire 8 Conference pod Saturday as it fell to Nazareth College 3-0 and Alfred University 3-1.

Nazareth cruised to a three set victory in the opening game of the day as it won 25-15-, 25-9, and 25-12.  Sophomores Hannah Voss (St. Louis, MO/Oakville) and Nicole Herringshaw (Syracuse, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) led the way with five kills apiece, while Voss also had a team-high eight assists and five digs.

Freshman Megan Weiss (Windsor, CT/Northwest Catholic) also tallied eight assists, with classmate Monique Fletcher (Waterford, CT/Norwich Free Academy) adding two assists and three digs of her own.

Utica got out to a quick start in the second game as it took the first set 25-23, before Alfred countered to win the next three sets (25-22, 25-21, 25-14).  Senior Brandi Blaszak (Marcy, NY/Whitesboro) led UC with 10 kills and four blocks.  She now needs just 32 kills to become the first player in program history to record 1,000 kills in her career.
