Women's Hockey Set to Take on Lebanon Valley

UTICA, NY- The Utica College women's hockey team hits the road Sunday as it travels to Pennsylvania for a non-conference matchup against Lebanon Valley. Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
 
LAST TIME OUT: The Pioneers are coming off two wins from a home-and-home series against previously unbeaten, Morrisville State last weekend...  In both games, the score was even at 2-2 in the final period before Utica came up with the deciding goal…  On Friday, junior Taylor Osowski (Highlands Ranch, CO/Colorado Selects) netted the tying goal with less than three minutes remaining in regulation before sophomore Jennifer Liu (North Saanich, British Columbia/Shaftesbury Titans ) scored the game-winner with just 1:42 left on the clock… Freshman Olivia Hirschy (Fort Wayne, IN/Culver Academies) also scored, while Amanda Lupo (Auburn, NY/Skaneateles) made 19 saves in net… On Saturday, Carlie Smith (Grimsby, Ontario/St. Catharine's Chaos) and Kayla Dion (Colchester, VT/Boston Shamrocks ) each scored in the first and second period, respectively, while Emily Coope (Phoenix, AZ/Colorado Tigers) had the game-winner with just over five minutes left to play… Keira Goin (Dobbs Ferry, NY/Hotchkiss School) made 27 saves in net… Senior Gabrielle Schnepp (Northville, MI/Belle Tire) had three assists on the weekend, while Lauren Patterson (Burlington, Ontario/Oakville) had two helpers. 
 
GOLD RIBBON GAME WRAP UP: Saturday's game against Morrisville State marked the Pioneers' fifth annual Gold Ribbon Game for childhood cancer awareness… Each year, the team raises money to donate to a local family with a child who is batting cancer… This year UC raised a record $9,715 to donate to the family of Will Linscott, a 14-year-old from Frankfort who is battling Leukemia… The Pioneers have now raised $22,716 for the cause in the last five years. 
 
KEEP IT "GOIN": Senior Keira Goin (Dobbs Ferry, NY/Hotchkiss School) was named the ECAC West Goalie of the Week for her performance over the weekend… She tallied 27 saves against Morrisville to help Utica to a 3-2 win…  This is her second Goalie of the Week award of the season so far… Goin is currently second in the ECAC West in save percentage at .942 and she also has a goals against average of 1.42
 
DISHING IT OUT: Senior Gabrielle Schnepp (Northville, MI/Belle Tire) leads the team with seven assists on the year… She now ranks fifth on the College's all-time list with 58 career assists… She is also fifth all-time with 94 career points.
 
LEADING THE WAY: Junior Meghan Power (Windsor, Ontario/Southwest Wildcats) is tied with Schnepp for the team lead with seven points (two goals, five assists)… Defensemen Jane Pagano (Erie, PA/Tabor Academy) and Kayla Dion (Colchester, VT/Boston Shamrocks ) each have six points, while Emily Coope (Phoenix, AZ/Colorado Tigers) and Lauren Patterson (Burlington, Ontario/Oakville) have five points each… Pagano, junior Taylor Osowski (Highlands Ranch, CO/Colorado Selects), and freshman Olivia Hirschy (Fort Wayne, IN/Culver Academies) lead the Pioneers with three goals apiece.   
 
SCOUTING LEBANON VALLEY: Lebanon Valley, which is in its first year of varsity competition, has a 2-6 record on the season... The Dutchmen are led by freshman Eleanor Donaher and junior Nikki Lloyd… Donaher has seven points (two goals, five assists), while Lloyd has a team-best five goals and she has also added one assist.
 
LOOKING AHEAD: The Pioneers will have nearly a month off from competition… They return from the winter break on Tuesday, Jan. 10 to take on SUNY Canton… Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
