UTICA, NY- The Utica College baseball team hits the road for non-conference action against Oneonta on Tuesday and a doubleheader against SUNY Poly on Wednesday. Tuesday's game is scheduled for 4 p.m. while Wednesday's doubleheader starts at 2 p.m.
 
Last Time Out: Utica went 2-1 against Ithaca taking both games on Saturday before losing the final game on Sunday … UC held off a late comeback attempt by the Bombers taking the first game 7-5 while coming from behind to defeat Ithaca 9-8 in the second game … On Sunday the Bombers avoided the weekend sweep when their offense unloaded for 20 runs to earn a 20-6 victory.
 
Conference Standings: The Pioneers (4-16 overall, 4-8 Empire 8) sit at fourth place in the conference ahead of Houghton (13-16 overall, 3-6 E8), SUNY Canton (8-18 overall, 3-9 E8), and Elmira (8-15 overall, 2-8 E8) … Stevens (19-10 overall, 10-2 E8) sits atop the conference while St. John Fisher (20-6 overall, 8-0 E8) and Ithaca (14-12 overall, 6-3 E8) sit in second and third respectively.
 
Empire 8 Spotlight:  Vincent Burillo (Montgomery, NY/Valley Central ) is 16^th in the conference in batting average (.323) and 11^th in the conference in fielding percentage (.992) … Joshua Webb (Verona, NY/VVS) ranks fourth in the conference in hits against (28), ninth in ERA (3.64) and 10^th in strikeouts (32) and opponent batting average (.248).
 
Freshman Phenom: Tim Quinlan (Monroe, CT/Masuck) has had a promising start to his career and currently leads the team with a .425 batting average (17-for-40) in 12 games played this season … He leads the team with 14 RBIs and six doubles … He also has three stolen bases … He has also been a rock on the defensive side of the ball, registering three errors and 22 assists. 
 
Mr. Consistency: JT Ross (New York Mills, NY/New York Mills) has played and started in all 20 games this season … Ross has a .307 batting average and leads the team with 23 hits … The junior transfer has five doubles, 10 runs scored, 10 RBIs and two stolen bases.
 
Pitching Staff: Outside of Webb, Ed Zakrzewski (Rome, NY/Rome Catholic) and William Winsman (Palatine Bridge, NY/Canajoharie) have started for the Pioneers … Zakrzewski has pitched 20 innings with 16 strikeouts while Winsman has pitched 22.1 innings with 11 strikeouts … Dom Caccioppoli (Circleville, NY/Pine Bush ) has been reliable out of the bull pen for the Pioneers this season and boasts a 4.50 earned run average over 16 innings of work.
 
Scouting Oneonta: The Red Dragons 5-21 overall with a 3-8 SUNYAC record … Oneonta takes on SUNY Cortland in conference action on Monday before facing Utica on Tuesday … Dylan Stamile leads the Red Dragon offense with a .361 batting average, 30 hits, six RBI, and 16 runs scored … Christopher DiDomizio leads Oneonta on the mound with a 2-0 record, 1.31 ERA, 20.2 innings pitched, and 15 strikeouts.
 
Scouting SUNY Poly: The Wildcats are 12-13 overall with a 4-2 NEAC record … SUNY Poly is coming off of a 18-4 loss and a 5-0 win over Lancaster Bible … Ryan Kelly leads the team on the mound with a 3-3 record, 3.38 ERA, 34.2 innings pitched, and 25 strikeouts … Tyler Vyce leads the team on offense with a .373 batting average, 24 RBI, 28 hits, seven runs scored, and two homeruns.
 
Looking Ahead: The Pioneers return to action on the road against Hilbert College on Friday … The first game of the doubleheader is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
