Baseball Travels to Keuka for a Doubleheader

UTICA, NY – The Utica College baseball team travels to Keuka College on Wednesday for a non-conference doubleheader. The first game is scheduled to start at 2 p.m.
 
Last Time Out: Utica went 2-1 against conference opponent SUNY Canton on Saturday and Sunday ... UC split the doubleheader on Saturday winning the first game 5-4 while falling 9-4 in the second game ... On Sunday the Pioneers held off a late game rally to defeat the Kangaroos 9-8.
 
Conference Standings: Utica (8-18 overall, 6-9 E8) sits in fourth place in the conference and is holding onto the last conference tournament qualifying spot … SUNY Canton (9-21 overall, 4-11 E8) is sitting in fifth while Houghton (13-20 overall, 3-10 E8) and Elmira (9-19 overall, 2-9 E8) hold the sixth and seventh spots … Ithaca (19-12 overall, 10-3 E8) holds the third place spot while Stevens (21-13 overall, 11-4 E8) is in second … St. John Fisher (23-8 overall, 11-1 E8) is currently the conference leader.
 
Freshman Phenom: After 18 games (17 starts) freshman Tim Quinlan (Monroe, CT/Masuck) leads the team with a .433 batting average, eight doubles, and 23 RBIs … He is tied for first on the team in triples (2) and homeruns (2) … Quinlan has added 29 hits, 13 runs scored, and four stolen bases … He has also been a rock on the defensive side of the ball, registering 31 assists and 26 putouts while having eight errors.
 
Mr. Consistency: JT Ross (New York Mills, NY/New York Mills) has played and started in all 26 games this season … Ross has a .350 batting average and leads the team with 36 hits … The junior transfer has five doubles, two triples, 17 runs scored, 20 RBIs and four stolen bases on four attempts.
 
Doing It All: Senior Vincent Burillo (Montgomery, NY/Valley Central ) has been steady all season and currently ranks third on the team with a .326 batting average … He has registered 29 hits, four doubles, and 12 RBIs to go along with five walks … He has also provided the Pioneers with some great work out of the bull pen as he has one victory, one save and has eight strike outs in 13.1 innings of work.
 
Pitching Staff: Joshua Webb (Verona, NY/VVS) leads the team in innings pitched (37.1), strikeouts (38), and wins (2-2) … Ed Zakrzewski (Rome, NY/Rome Catholic) and William Winsman (Palatine Bridge, NY/Canajoharie) have also started for the Pioneers … Zakrzewski has pitched 26 innings with 19 strikeouts while Winsman has pitched 30.1 innings with 12 strikeouts … Dom Caccioppoli (Circleville, NY/Pine Bush ) has been reliable out of the bull pen for the Pioneers this season and boasts a team best 3.63 earned run average over 22.1 innings of work and has a 1-0 record in nine appearances.
 
Ranking In The Empire 8: Quinlan ranks first in the Empire 8 in batting average (.433) and first in the conference in slugging percentage (.701) while Ross is ranked 10th in the conference in batting average (.350) … Burillo is ranked eighth in the conference in fielding percentage (0.994) … Webb is ranked ninth in the conference with a 3.86 ERA, fourth in the conference in complete games (2), seventh in hits allowed (38), eighth in fewest runs allowed (25), seventh in strikeouts (38), and 10th in the conference in opponents batting average (.260).
 
Scouting Keuka: The Wolfpack is 14-13 overall with a 5-5 NEAC record … Keuka won its last two games 12-2 and 5-4 over Gallaudet and are scheduled to play D'Youville on Tuesday … The Wolfpack are led by Kyle Dailey (.333 batting average, 25 hits, 16 RBIs, and 11 runs scored) on offense and Kyle Michaud (3-2, 4.00 ERA, 36.0 innings pitched, 39 strikeouts, and one complete game) on the mound.
 
Looking Ahead: The Pioneers will travel to non-conference opponent Hilbert on Tuesday for one nine-inning game … The game is scheduled for 4 p.m.
