Rochester, NY – The Utica College volleyball team dropped a pair of games as it wrapped up its weekend at the University of Rochester Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The Pioneers lost their opener in straight sets to host Rochester, 25-22, 25-14, 29-27. Utica also lost the nightcap against SUNY Geneseo, 3-0 (25-14, 25-14, 25-9).
The Pioneers (1-9) return home on Tuesday when they host Southern Vermont College in non-conference action at the Clark Athletic Center Gymnasium (7 p.m.). Utica is 1-0 this season at home, defeating SUNY Delhi in its home opener back on September 1
st.
Hannah Voss (St. Louis, MO/Oakville) totaled 12 kills, 23 digs, 22 assists and two aces over the course of two games on Saturday on her way to earning All-Tournament Team honors.
Nicole Herringshaw (Syracuse, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) totaled 16 kills, four blocks and one ace on Saturday, while the College's newly minted all-time leader in kills,
Brandi Blaszak (Marcy, NY/Whitesboro), totaled 12 kills and three blocks on the day.
Megan Weiss (Windsor, CT/Northwest Catholic) added 22 assists and two aces on the day.
In game one against the University of Rochester, Herringshaw led the Pioneers with 10 kills, three blocks and one ace. Voss chipped in with six kills, 14 assists and 15 digs, while Blaszak added nine kills and three blocks.
Leah Octave (New Windsor, NY/Cornwall) posted 14 digs and
Monique Fletcher (Waterford, CT/Norwich Free Academy) added two blocks and one ace.
In the second game of the day against Geneseo, Voss collected six kills, eight assists, eight digs and one ace. Herringshaw added six kills and one block, while Weiss posted nine assists and two aces.
