PLATTSBURGH, NY- The Utica College volleyball team downed Southern Vermont College for the second time in four days, this time topping the Mountaineers 3-1 Friday evening at the Plattsburgh Invitational.

Utica took the first two sets by scores of 25-18 and 25-15 before the Mountaineers prevented the sweep with a third-set victory of 25-20. The Pioneers came back to close it out in the fourth, however, with a 25-16 margin for the win.

Sophomore
Hannah Voss (St. Louis, MO/Oakville) led the attack as she totaled a team-high 12 kills and 18 assists. Senior
Brandi Blaszak (Marcy, NY/Whitesboro) and sophomore
Nicole Herringshaw (Syracuse, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) both totaled 10 kills, with Herringshaw adding four blocks and Blaszak collecting two aces.

Freshman
Megan Weiss (Windsor, CT/Northwest Catholic) had another impressive game as she led the squad with four aces and totaled 17 assists. Junior
Andreana Kroup (Gloversville, NY/Gloversville) had a career-high 24 digs, while
Leah Octave (New Windsor, NY/Cornwall) chipped in with 22 and
Marissa Faroni (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) had 10 digs to her credit.Â

The Pioneers return to action Saturday as they take on Plattsburgh State at 11 a.m. and Elms College at 1:30 p.m.
