KEUKA, NY- The Utica College field hockey team cruised to a 6-0 victory over Keuka College in non-conference action Sunday afternoon. The Pioneers are now 2-1 in their last three games.
Utica jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first half and tacked on another tally in the second stanza to secure the victory. Sophomore
Rebecca Kauffman (Mount Joy, PA/Linden Hall) led the way with two goals and added one assist to pace the Pioneers. Classmate
Tiffany Evans (East Syracuse, NY/East Syracuse Minoa) finished with four points on the day off of one goal and two assists.
Tori Couture (Auburn, ME/Edward Little ) and
Rylee Meelan (Clinton, NY/Clinton) each had one goal, and freshman
Fiona Shea (East Greenbush, NY/East Greenbush) netted her first collegiate goal, which proved to be the game-winner.
Elizabeth Sherman and Kassidy Valentine combined for 27 saves in net for Keuka, while Utica's
Samantha Whitehouse (Greenwich, NY/Greenwich) collected her first shutout of the season.
The Pioneers return home Wednesday as they host Hamilton College. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
