Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

RPI Uses Penalty Kicks to Defeat Utica

Schenectady, NY – The Utica College men's soccer team lapsed for 1:03 early in the second half and it was all the time that RPI would need to earn a 2-0 victory on the final day of the Union College Classic Saturday afternoon.  The Pioneers gave up two penalty kick goals at 51:32 and 52:35, both from the foot of RPI's Devon Baughen, as the Engineers came away with the 2-0 victory.

Utica returns to the pitch on Saturday when it hosts Maritime College at 7 p.m. on day one of the Utica College Invitational. Skidmore and Baruch will square off in the tournament's opening game at 4:30 p.m.

Despite being outshot 11-0 in the first half, the Pioneers were still able to manage a 0-0 ball game headed into the halftime intermission.

Utica junior goalie Matthew Milograno (Marcy, NY/Whitesboro) stopped six shots on the day as the Pioneers record moved to 0-2 overall on the year.  RPI finished the day with an 8-0 shots on goal advantage over UC and also earned nine corner kicks compared to Utica's two.

RPI improved to 1-0-1 overall after a season-opening tie against Sage College. RPI goalie Ryan Nealon went all 90 minutes and earned the shut out victory for the Engineers.
