UTICA, NY- The Utica College women's soccer team looks to get back on track Wednesday as it hosts SUNY Potsdam under the lights at Gaetano Stadium for the Pioneers' 2016 home opener. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT: Utica dropped a pair of games at the North Country Classic over the weekend… UC fell to Clarkson University 3-1 on Friday, before falling to St. Lawrence 4-0 on Saturday… Senior
Ciara McIlvenny (Pleasant Valley, NY/Arlington) scored the lone goal on the weekend, with junior
Keri Berkowitz (Racine, WI/Racine Saint Catherine's) picking up the assist.
IN THE NET: All three goalies have split time in net so far… Freshman
Allison Wagner (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua Academy) was impressive in her first collegiate start, turning aside 14 shots in 90 minutes of action… Senior
Jamie Enders (Cazenovia, NY/Cazenovia) and junior
Kimberly Beattie (Levitton, NY/Division Ave) each played 45 minutes against Clarkson… Enders made four saves and allowed one goal, while Beattie stopped two shots in the loss.
IN THE FIELD: Nine players have started both games so far for the Pioneers…
Keri Berkowitz (Racine, WI/Racine Saint Catherine's),
Ciara McIlvenny (Pleasant Valley, NY/Arlington), and
Abby Reilly (Brookfield, NY/Brookfield) lead the team with 173, 163, and 162 minutes played, respectively… Veterans
Xiomara Rodriguez (Bay Shore, NY/Brentwood),
Elanna Green (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford Sutherland),
Sara Kubera (Utica, NY/Notre Dame),
Jenna Mazza (Frankfort, NY/Sauquoit Valley), and
Jordynn Miller (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) have all logged over 100 minutes of action, while freshman
Kristina Barth (North Caldwell, NJ/West Essex) has played 102 minutes, marking the only rookie to start both games.
SCOUTING POTSDAM: The Bears are 1-1 after the first weekend of play… Potsdam defeated New England College 1-0 on Saturday, before falling to D'Youville College 2-0 on Sunday… Sophomore Brooke Faison is back after leading the team with six goals and 16 points as a freshman.
AGAINST THE BEARS: Utica is 6-3-1 all-time against the Bears, however UC has fallen to Potsdam in each of the last two meetings… Last year, the Pioneers dropped a 3-0 decision in Potsdam.
