Utica, NY – The Utica College women's tennis team lost 9-0 to visiting Ithaca College in Empire 8 Conference action on Wednesday afternoon in the home opener for the Pioneers at the UC Tennis Courts.
LuLu Zhang (Wenzhou, China /Newcomers) and
Gabriella Morreale (Utica, NY/T.R Proctor) teamed up to earn two points in third doubles, but came up short, 8-2, against Ithaca's Jodi Grosberg and Jane Alkhazov.

Sara Gribanoff (West Winfield, NY/Mount Markham) lost her first match of the season 6-0, 6-1 against Ithaca's Caroline Dunn in second singles, while
LuLu Zhang (Wenzhou, China /Newcomers) dropped a 6-0,6-1 decision against Ithaca's Jane Alkhazov in sixth singles.
Julianne Pieros (Alpha, NJ/Phillipsburg) and
Monica Johnson (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) teamed up in second doubles and lost 8-1 to Ithaca's Brianna Ruback and Taylor Ginestro.
The Pioneers return to the courts on Friday afternoon when they host Elmira College for Empire 8 action at 4 p.m.
