Utica, NY – The Utica College women's soccer team will be on the road Saturday, for an Empire 8 matchup with Elmira. The game is set to kick-off at 12 p.m.
Last Time Out: The Pioneers fell to Hamilton College in their last contest, by a score of 1-0.
Jordynn Miller (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) was able to place two shots on goal, but UC was unable to find the back of the net. Sophomore goalkeeper,
Allison Wagner (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua Academy) was able to make a total of 14 saves, as the team's record drops to 4-7-1 overall and 1-2 in the E8.
Statistical Leaders: Jenna Mazza (Frankfort, NY/Sauquoit Valley) (7th) and
Keri Berkowitz (Racine, WI/Racine Saint Catherine's) (9th) are both top ten in the conference in shots with 28 and 24 respectively. Berkowitz is also ranks 6th in the E8 with a tally of three assists so far this season.
Allison Wagner (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua Academy) currently leads the Empire 8 with 112 saves and has the top saves percentage of .875. Wagner is also fourth in the conference with a total of four shutouts so far this year.
Conference Picture: Heading into Saturday's E8 battle against Elmira, the conference standings are as follows: 1. Hartwick (4-1 E8), 2. Stevens (4-1 E8), 3. Nazareth (3-1 E8), 4. Alfred (1-1-2 E8), 5. Houghton (1-2-1 E8), 6. St. John Fisher (1-2-1 E8), 7. Utica (1-2 E8), 8. Elmira (0-2-1 E8), 9. Sage (0-3-1 E8). The Pioneers are three spots out from making the conference tournament with five Empire 8 contests left on the schedule. Each game is vital to UC's chance of earning its way into the tournament for the first time since 2007.
Scouting Elmira: The Soaring Eagles own an overall record of 1-9-1 and are 0-2-1 in E8 competition. In the team's last outing, it lost to Marywood University by a score of 4-1. Sara Kazerouni netted Elmira's lone goal in the contest in the 85th minute. Goalkeeper, Rachel Grampp made four saves for the Soaring Eagles in the loss. Jordyn Rousselle leads the team in points with team-highs of five goals and three assists. Grampp is the top goalie on the team, as she is second in the Empire 8 in saves with 106 so far this season.
Against Elmira: In the last meeting between these two teams, Utica earned the 4-1 victory over the Soaring Eagles.

Looking Ahead: The Pioneers will be back home for its next game, as they will host Hartwick for another E8 matchup. The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. on October 18th.
