Troy, NY - The Utica College women's tennis team faced-off against Empire 8 opponent Sage, in the final match of the season. The Pioneers lost, 7-2, ending the season with a record of 3-8 overall and 1-7 in conference play.

In doubles competition, UC was able to steal one point from the Gators. Julianne Pieros (Alpha, NJ/Phillipsburg) and Lulu Zhang (Wenzhou, China/Newcomers) defeated Sage's duo of Samantha Dibbell and Abbey Clobridge, 8-3. The win gives the pair of Pieros/Zhang a final record of 8-1 in doubles competition this season. 

Lulu Zhang (Wenzhou, China/Newcomers) earned the team's lone win in singles play. Zhang defeated Rebecca Jackson 6-2, 6-2 in the third singles match. She finishes the season with an individual record of 9-2 in singles competition.

With a record of 1-7 against Empire 8 opponents, the Pioneers will not qualify for the E8 Tournament, bringing 2017 to a close.
