Clinton, NY - The Utica College men and women's swim and dive teams went to Hamilton College on Friday for a dual meet. The men's team lost 142-72 and the women's team lost by a score of 161-64.
TJ Tellekamp (Oakdale, NY/Connetquot) was the top swimmer for the men, as he earned two first place finishes individually at the meet. In the 50-yard freestyle event, he came in first place with a time of 22.37. TJ came back with a time of 48.73 in the 100-yard freestyle race, placing first once again. Tellekamp was also a member of the second place 200-yard medley relay team.
The women were led by
Phoebe King (New Bedford, MA/GNB Voc Tech)'s two event wins on the day, scoring 18 points for UC at the meet individually. With a time of 2:02.30, King came in first place during the 200-yard freestyle event. She also was the top finisher in the 500-yard backstroke, recording a time of 5:36.41. King also participated in the 200-yard medley relay, helping the relay squad come in third.
For the men's team,
Aaron Gudrian (Windsor, CT/Windsor)Â had a solid day with a second place finish in the 100-yard butterfly and came in third during the 200-yard IM.
John Blashke (Stratford, CT/Bunnell)Â swam a time of 1:12.36, on his way to placing second in the 100-yard breaststroke event. Diver
Matt Patton (Waterford, CT/Waterford) took home first place in the 1-Meter diving event with a score of 206.25. Patton was uncontested in the 3-Meter dive, winning by default with a score of 210.98.
Other strong performances from the women's team includes
Grace Gallentine (Clifton Springs, NY/Midlakes), as she placed first in the 50-yard freestyle and third in the 100-yard freestyle. Also,Â
Kelcey Madigan (Waverly, NY/Waverly) earned second with a time of 1:16.69 in the 100-yard breaststroke race. The 200-yard freestyle relay team of
Emily Czerwonka (Souderton, PA/Souderton Area),
Lara McNamara (Yonkers, NY/Maria Regina),
Daniela Hannah (Dalton, GA/Northwest Whitfield), and
Krysta Rehrig (Pennsburg, PA/Upper Perkiomen)Â placed second, clocking in at 1:56.84.
The Pioneers return to action on Saturday, as they are back home for another dual meet. The teams will matchup against Skidmore College, beginning at 1 p.m.
