UTICA, NY- The Utica College women's hockey team scored five goals in the third period as it downed visiting SUNY Cortland 6-0 in ECAC West Conference action Friday afternoon.

With the win, UC improves to 15-8-1 on the year and 10-6-1 in the conference. Cortland, meanwhile drops to 3-20-1 overall (2-14-1 ECAC West). The Pioneers have now won the last six games and they are 6-1-1 in their last eight. UC also remains undefeated at home, moving to 7-0-1 at the friendly confines of the Utica memorial Auditorium. The teams wrap up the season series Saturday at Cortland. Game time is scheduled for 2 p.m.

Sophomore
Elizabeth Dohner (Highlands Ranch, CO/Colorado Selects) opened the scoring at 17:13 as she put in a loose puck in front for her seventh of the season. Senior
Gabrielle Schnepp (Northville, MI/Belle Tire) tallied an assist on the play to move into sole possession of third on the College's career assist list with the 70
th helper of her career. The point also helped Schnepp pass 2016 graduate
Morgan Reed (Fort Myers, FL/Cushing Academy) for fourth on the career points list (112). Junior
Veronique Lortie (Chambly, Quebec/Berkshire School) also registered her sixth assist of the season on the opening tally.

Dohner's score was the difference after two, before the Pioneers broke the game open in the final 20 minutes. Junior
Carlie Smith (Grimsby, Ontario/St. Catharine's Chaos) buried a centering feed at 2:37 from
Taylor Dion (Colchester, VT/Boston Shamrocks) for her fifth of the year and fourth goal in as many games. Sophomore
Kendra Mac (Cedar, MI/Lawrence Academy ) also assisted on the play.

UC kept the pressure on, scoring three goals in 1:31 to take a commanding 5-0 lead.Â
Taylor Osowski (Highlands Ranch, CO/Colorado Selects),
Taylor Dion (Colchester, VT/Boston Shamrocks), and
Victoria Pelton (Sterling Heights, MI/Belle Tire) were credited with the goals. Sophomore
Lauren Patterson (Burlington, Ontario/Oakville) capped off the scoring at 17:26 as she jammed in a rebound for her fourth of the season.Â
Samantha Husak (Jackson, MI/Grass Lake),
Jane Pagano (Erie, PA/Tabor Academy),
Danielle Haasbeek (Grand Forks, ND/Balmoral Hall) and
Jennifer Liu (North Saanich, British Columbia/Shaftesbury Titans ) each tallied one assist in the third.

Keira Goin (Dobbs Ferry, NY/Hotchkiss School) stopped all 25 shots she faced, while her counterpart, Kelly Farinella had 27 saves in the loss.
