UTICA, NY --
Carl Taylor (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick), of the Utica College men's basketball team, was named to the All-Tournament Team following his performance against Stevens in the Empire 8 Men's Basketball Tournament semifinals on Friday at St. John Fisher.
Taylor recorded a team-high 22 points in the Pioneers semifinal matchup against the Ducks. He shot 10-for-15 from the floor and posted nine rebounds. Taylor averaged 8.6 points per game in 25 games this season. He also averaged 2.9 assists and 5.1 rebounds per game.
Taylor recorded a career-high 27 points against Elmira College. He scored in double figures nine times this past season, including a stretch midway through the year where he scored 10+ points in seven of nine starts. He played in important role in the Pioneers push to earn the No. 3 seed in the Empire 8 Tournament.
The Pioneers, who were making their first E8 Tournament appearance since 2013, closed out their season with a 10-16 overall record. Utica went 10-6 in Empire 8 play, marking their most wins in conference play since 2009. Utica entered the conference tournament on a four game win streak and ended its season winning 10 of its final 16 games.
