UTICA, NY- The Utica College women's lacrosse team scored five of the games' final seven goals, but it was not enough as Clarkson University held on for an 11-7 win in non-conference action Friday evening.

Clarkson scored four goals in the first eight minutes of play before senior
Rebecca Plunkett (Kings Park, NY/Kings Park) was able to get the Pioneers on the board off a feed from freshman
Rachel Gelina (Westfield, MA/Westfield) with 21:32 remaining in the first half. Plunkett finished with three goals and one assist on the day, leading all UC scorers.

Junior
Brooke Miller (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) scored two goals, while Gelina netted one of her own. Freshman
Devon Burri (Clifton Springs, NY/Midlakes) netted her first collegiate goal and sophomore
Katlyn Scarpinella (South Setauket, NY/Ward Melville) and senior
Sara Hennessey (East Syracuse, NY/East Syracuse Minoa) each had one assist.

Maggie Notter (Clifton Springs, NY/Midlakes) led the team with five ground balls and five caused turnovers, while Plunkett finished with a team-best four draw controls.

Freshman
Hali Vandermeulen (Walden, NY/Valley Central) and junior
Amanda Lupo (Auburn, NY/Skaneateles) combined for six saves in the loss, while Clarkson's Samantha Gladd also made six saves to pick up her third win of the year.

The Pioneers have a week off before returning to action next Saturday on the road at Wellesley College. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
