WELLESLEY, MA- Wellesley College scored six goals in each half as it downed Utica College in women's lacrosse action Saturday. Senior
Rebecca Plunkett (Kings Park, NY/Kings Park) led the Pioneers with four goals on the day.
Utica jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first 4:14 of the contest with a pair of goals from Plunkett. The Blue responded with four goals over the next 10 minutes to take a 4-2 lead. Plunkett netted her third of the game and junior
Brooke Miller (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) also found the back of the net with 1:05 remaining in the half to send the team into halftime trailing 6-4.
UC came within one with just over 20 minutes remaining, but the home team scored five of the game's final six goals to improve to 2-2 on the year. Miller finished with two goals, while
Katlyn Scarpinella (South Setauket, NY/Ward Melville) led all players with three assists. Freshman
Hailee DuMont (Wilkes-Barre, PA/James M. Coughlin) found the back of the net once for her second of the year. Plunkett had a game-high four goals to move her season total to 12. She also collected a team-best three draw controls.

Maggie Notter (Clifton Springs, NY/Midlakes) led the Pioneers with two caused turnovers and a game-high six ground balls. Freshman
Hali Vandermeulen (Walden, NY/Valley Central) matched her career-high with 11 saves on the day. Her counterpart, Wendy Nettleton made ten saves in the win.
The Pioneers (1-3) return to action Wednesday as they travel to Cazenovia College for their final tune up before starting conference play. Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
