Box Score Utica, NY - The Utica College men's lacrosse team lost to #3 Ithaca College at home on Saturday, 19-2. The Pioneers' record now drops to 2-3 overall and are 0-1 in Empire 8 competition. 

Ithaca outscored UC 6-1 in the first quarter to take control of the game early on. Tyler Nicolaus (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) scooped up the ball on the defensive end of the field and took it all the way to the net, scoring his second goal of the season. In the second quarter, the Ithaca Bombers struck first making the score 7-1 with 13:51 remaining before halftime. Utica answered back, as Nicolaus fed Brickman House (Oneida, WI/Pulaski) for the second Pioneer goal of the game. Ithaca went on to score four more goals before the second quarter ended, making the score 11-2 heading into halftime. 

The second half was all Ithaca as it outscored UC 8-0 in the final two quarters of the contest. The Bombers walked away with a 17 goal victory. 

Nicolaus led the Pioneers with two points on one goal and one assist. He also Caused two turnovers and scooped up four ground balls on the day. House finished with one goal and grabbed two ground balls. Andrew Davi (New Hartford, NY/New Hartford) registered a team-high three caused turnovers and tallied five ground balls. Goalkeeper Parker Smith (Dexter, NY/General Brown) led the team with eight ground balls on the day and made a career-high 19 saves in the contest. 

Ithaca's Jake Cotton finished with seven points on one goal and six assists. Josh Della Puca recorded seven points as well in the game, coming from his three goals and four assists. Goalkeeper Jack Deragon earned the win on the day, allowing just two goals and making eight saves.

The Pioneers will return to action on Monday, as they will play SUNY Poly on the road. The game is scheduled to start at 4 p.m.
