UTICA, NY- The Utica College baseball team returns home on Tuesday for a game against SUNY Oneonta. The first pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.
 
Last Time Out: Last weekend, the team traveled to St. John Fisher College for two games… UC dropped both games by scores of 25-0 and 4-2… In the second game, Christian Tiffin (Sherrill, NY/VVS) hit his first career home run to get the Pioneers on the board in the third inning… JT Ross (New York Mills, NY/New York Mills) went 3-for-4 in the game and Alex Rocci (Utica, NY/Notre Dame) pitched six innings giving up four earned runs.
 
Offensive Consistency: Utica continues to be among the best offensively in the Empire 8 Conference… The team currently ranks third in the conference with a .312 batting average and third with a .448 slugging percentage… There are currently six players who are hitting above .300 with a minimum of 20 at bats… All of those players have a slugging percentage of at least .385.
 
Ross Leading: JT Ross (New York Mills, NY/New York Mills) has been outstanding at the plate this season hitting a conference-best .453… Ross is also first in hits (39) and doubles (13) and he ranks second in slugging percentage at .663… He is second on the team in runs batted in with 19 on the year.
 
Quinlan Power: While Ross is most consistent at getting on the base for the Pioneers, Tim Quinlan (Monroe, CT/Masuck) has been the most consistent in bringing batters home… He currently leads the team with 27 runs batted in on the season while no other Pioneer has more than 20… His 27 RBIs rank fourth in the conference… Quinlan is ranked sixth in the E8 with a .597 slugging percentage and he is third on the team with a .351 batting average.
 
Scouting Oneonta: The Red Dragons are coming into Tuesday's contest with an 11-13 overall record and they are coming off a 1-2 weekend against New Paltz… Donald Geloso is leading the team with a .364 average while Sean Mullins is leading with 18 runs batted in… Thomas Bond has been the ace of the pitching staff for Oneonta with a 4-2 record on the season with a 3.76 earned run average.
 
Against Oneonta: Last year when these two teams met it was Oneonta winning a nail biter 13-12… JT Ross (New York Mills, NY/New York Mills) and Tim Quinlan (Monroe, CT/Masuck) combined to go 7—for-12 in the game with three runs and four RBI's… That was the only matchup between the two schools in the last five years.
 
Looking Ahead: The Pioneers will return to action on Friday for a home double header against Hilbert College… The first pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
