Men's Lacrosse Battles Stevens on the Road

Utica, NY -- The Utica College men's lacrosse team will be traveling to Hoboken, New Jersey to face Stevens, on Wednesday at 6 p.m.  The Pioneers will look to improve upon their 2-2 conference record in this Empire 8 matchup.

Last Time Out: The Utica College men's lacrosse team jumped out to an 8-0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back as the Pioneers topped host SUNY Canton, 14-8, in the team's last contest … The Pioneers improved their record to 8-4 on the season and have now won six of their last seven games … Brickman House (Oneida, WI/Pulaski) led the way in the victory, finishing with eight total points on four goals and four assists … Dominic Castiglia (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) scored three goals of his own, while Ryan Desveaux (Bowmanville, ONT/St. Stephen Catholic) and Nick Yelich (Lancaster, NY/Depew) netted two apiece … Goalkeepers Parker Smith (Dexter, NY/General Brown) and Harrison Bower (Northport, NY/Kings Park) combined for 15 saves on the day, as Smith was credited with the win.

Huge Season Continues: Utica senior, Brickman House (Oneida, WI/Pulaski), had another impressive performance against SUNY Canton to continue his strong season … House remains the team-leader in both points and assists, with 49 points and 20 assists … He also is second on the team with his 29 goals so far this year … House currently ranks third in assists, fourth in points, and seventh in goals among the statistical leaders in the Empire 8.

Goals Leader: Dominic Castiglia (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) leads the Pioneers with a total of 33 goals so far this season … Castiglia has registered at least one goal in every contest this year except for one … His performance against Alfred State was incredible, as he recorded eight goals in the team's 17-5 win … He also is second on the team in total points, with 42 this far into his sophomore campaign … Castiglia is now ranked fifth in the Empire 8 in goals and is first in the conference in shots.

Scouting Stevens: Stevens is currently first in the Empire 8 standings with an overall record of 10-3 and is 5-0 in Empire 8 competition … The Ducks are coming into this matchup riding the momentum of a five game winning streak after defeating St. John Fisher in their last game … Stevens beat St. John Fisher, 12-6, behind Eric Radbourne's three goals and Max Bailey's three assists … Bailey currently leads the team with 35 assists, which is also good enough to lead the Empire 8 … Tommy Dawson has scored a team-high 33 goals so far this season to go along with his 12 assists, which is second on the team … Carson White has started all 13 games for the Ducks in the net and allows 8.90 goals per game, good for third in the Empire 8.

Against Stevens: The Pioneers will be looking for their first victory over Stevens in program history … Last year when these two teams met, the Ducks walked away with the 20-9 win over UC … Dominic Castiglia (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) made a strong contribution with five goals in the contest for the Pioneers, but it wasn't enough … Steven's Max Bailey finished with seven points on three goals and four assists, while his teammate Andrew Scrutchfield added six goals of his own in the game.

Looking Ahead: Utica will return to action against St John Fisher on Saturday, for another Empire 8 matchup. The game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. in Utica, at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium.
