Utica, NY – The Utica College baseball team defeated Hilbert College at home on Friday, 8-6. The second game of the doubleheader was cancelled due to poor field conditions. The Pioneers improve to 13-11 overall this season and hold an undefeated record of 7-0 at home.

JT Ross (New York Mills, NY/New York Mills) earned an RBI in the third inning to put UC on the board, but the Hawks scored another run to make the score 5-1 going into the bottom of the fourth.
Christian Tiffin (Sherrill, NY/VVS) singled to right field to bring in one run before the game entered the fifth inning.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, the Pioneers rallied to take control of the game. Sparked by an RBI from
Tim Quinlan (Monroe, CT/Masuck), UC scored four runs in the fifth in order to take a 6-5 lead going into the sixth inning. Quinlan brought another runner home and scored a run himself in the sixth inning to record the insurance runs, earning Utica the two run victory.
Quinlan finished 3-for-4 at the plate with two RBI's and three runs scored.
JT Ross (New York Mills, NY/New York Mills) batted 2-for-4 in the game with one double, one RBI, and two scored runs. Every player that registered an at-bat for the Pioneers in the contest recorded at least one hit in the game.
Justin Bodley-Bjorklund (Washington, DC/St. Johns) improves his pitching record to 2-1 on the season, after receiving the win against Hilbert. He pitched just over three innings, allowed one earned run and gave up just three hits on the mound.
Kevin Moore and Ryan Bonafede both went 2-for-4 at the plate for the Hilbert Hawks, as Bonafede rattled off one triple. Eric Flores also batted 2-for-4, but also registered two RBI's in the game. Taylor Haug finished 2-for-2 on the day, contributing one double and scored one run for the Hawks. Michael Voveris received the loss as the starting pitcher in the contest, making his season record now 1-3. Hilbert's record drops to 7-16 overall now this year.
The Pioneers will return to action Saturday for an Empire 8 doubleheader against Stevens at home. Game one of the series is set to begin at 1 p.m.
