MORRISVILLE, NY – The Utica College men's soccer team lost a 1-0 decision against host Morrisville State in non-conference action on the road Wednesday evening. Morrisville's Julian Rodriguez capitalized with the game-winner in the 54th minute as he took a chip pass from Ryan Paddock and made a move to beat UC goalie Jonathan Side (Plattsburgh, NY/Plattsburgh) to give the Mustangs a 1-0 lead that they would not relinquish. 

Utica has now lost two in a row and saw its record even up at 3-3 overall on the season. Morrisville earned its first victory of the year and improved to 1-3 overall.

Utica goalie Jonathan Side (Plattsburgh, NY/Plattsburgh) stopped four shots in the loss. Morrisville goalie Cody Welkley stopped five shots in the victory.

UC earned a 19-15 shot advantage on the evening and the Pioneers were also awarded seven corners compared to Morrisville's five.

UC will remain on the road this weekend when they travel west to take on Alfred University Saturday in the Empire 8 Conference opener for the Pioneers at 5 p.m. UC will stay overnight and travel to Buffalo on Sunday morning to take on D'Youville in non-conference action at 12 p.m.
