Field Hockey Drops OT Heartbreaker at Hartwick

ONEONTA, NY- The Utica College field hockey team dropped a heartbreaker Tuesday afternoon as it fell to host Hartwick College 2-1 in overtime in Empire 8 Conference action.  Freshman Sydney Scaccia (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) netted her first career goal in the loss.

The Hawks opened the scoring at 17:58 as Claudia Stone scored off a penalty corner, assisted by Allyson Quirk.  Stone's tally held up for the next 40 minutes until Scaccia was able to put in a loose ball in front of the Hartwick net to even the score.

The Hawks tallied the game-winner just 4:37 into overtime as Maria Stalder put in a feed from Tegan Robinson to give the Hawks their second E8 win of the season.

Samantha Whitehouse (Greenwich, NY/Greenwich) and Carly Tebolt (Wappingers, NY/Roy C Ketcham) combined for 14 saves in the loss, while Hartwick's Allyson Osborne made eight saves in the win.

The Pioneers (5-2, 2-1 Empire 8) return to action Saturday as they travel to St. John Fisher College.  Game time is scheduled for 11 a.m.
