UTICA, NY- The Utica College women's Soccer team got back on track with a 1-0 win over SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry Wednesday evening in non-conference action. Junior
Jenna Mazza (Frankfort, NY/Sauquoit Valley) scored the game's only goal in the win.
Mazza put the Pioneers up 1-0 just 4:16 into the game as she took a ball down the left hand side of the field and played it through the keeper's legs for her second tally of the year.
That was all the Pioneers needed as sophomore
Allison Wagner (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua Academy) and the UC defense shut the door. Wagner finished with 11 saves to earn her conference-leading fourth clean sheet of the year. Her counterpart, Kiki Hilmer made seven saves for the Mighty Oaks.
The Pioneers (3-4-1) remain at home Saturday as they host Empire 8 foe, Nazareth College in their annual Brain Cancer Awareness game, dedicated to Courtney Wagner. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
