UTICA, NY – Utica College sophomore
Thomas Muller (Camillus, NY/Bishop Ludden) netted a career-high three goals to help lift the Pioneers to a convincing 4-1 win over visiting SUNY Environmental Science & Forestry on Wednesday night at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium. Junior
Julian Fonseca (Rocky Hill, CT/Bridgton) also added a career-high three assists to pace the Pioneers.
Muller's three-goal performance was the first by a Pioneer since alum Shane Ruffing accomplished the feat back in 2014.
UC has now won two in a row and improved to 5-4 overall on the year headed into a key Empire 8 Conference matchup on the road at St. John Fisher College on Saturday. SUNY ESF's record fell to 4-2 on the season.

Paul Mitchell (Belfast, Ireland/CBS) netted his first collegiate goal for the Pioneers.
Utica got things going early when Muller netted his first of the night and second of the season just 2:27 into the contest off an assist from
Michael Bernardo (Bay Shore, NY/Bay Shore). SUNY ESF answered just 3:03 later and knotted the score at 1-1 when Cooper Weinman scored his third of the season off an assist from Matthew Murray.
Muller broke the 1-1 tie with less than three minutes to go in the first half of play after redirecting home his third goal of the season of a free kick from
Julian Fonseca (Rocky Hill, CT/Bridgton). The Pioneers began to pile it on in the 46
th minute when Mitchell finished a cross from Fonseca, which was also touched by Bernardo, into the back of the net to put the home team up by two goals.
Muller capped the scoring on the afternoon with his third goal of the night and fourth of the year after he headed home a cross from Fonseca to give Utica a conniving three goal lead at 73:34.

Matthew Milograno (Marcy, NY/Whitesboro) played well in net for the second consecutive game as he made seven saves to improve to 2-0 on the season. Carmine Tronolone stopped one shot on the evening for the Great Maples.
UC was outshot 14-9 on the afternoon, but the Pioneers earned a 2-1 corner kick advantage.
