Rochester, NY – The Utica College men's soccer team lost to host St. John Fisher College 2-0 in Empire 8 Conference action on Saturday afternoon. The Pioneers were able to keep the contest close, 1-0, through 84 minutes until the Cardinals sealed the win with a late score to earn the two goal victory.
Utica's record evened up at 5-5 on the season and 0-2 in conference play while Fisher's record improved to 5-1-3 overall and 1-1 in the Empire 8.
The Cardinals took an early 1-0 lead when Bryan Rollins netted his first goal of the season just 7:30 into the contest. Utica goalie Matthew Milograno (Marcy, NY/Whitesboro) and the Pioneer defense were able to hold Fisher to just one goal until late in the contest. Milograno stopped nine shots on the afternoon.
Fisher capped the scoring on the afternoon when Brian Norman scored his second goal of the season in the 84th minute.
Fisher out shot Utica 25-7 and also earned a 12-5 advantage in corner kicks.
UC returns to action on the road Tuesday when it travels to Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Studies for a 7 p.m. matchup.
