Utica, NY – The Utica College women's tennis team faced off against St. John Fisher on Wednesday, for an Empire 8 matchup. The Pioneers lost, 8-1, as the team drops to 2-6 overall and 1-5 in conference play this season.

UC was unable to earn any points during doubles competition, losing all three flights.

In singles play, Lulu Zhang (Wenzhou, China/Newcomers) earned the lone point for the team. Zhang defeated Fisher's Sarah Sorrentino in two sets 6-1, 6-0 in the third singles match.

The Pioneers return to action on Friday for yet another home contest. This time the team will play host to SUNY Delhi, beginning at 4 p.m.
