Utica, NY – The Utica College women's basketball team is back at home once again on Sunday for a matchup with Alfred State College. The game is set to begin at 2 p.m.
Last Time Out: In the last matchup for the Pioneers, they took care of business at home against the visiting MCLA Trailblazers with a 73-57 victory. Freshman
Petrina DeMarco (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) led all scorers with a career-high 15 points, shooting 5-for-8 from beyond the 3-point arc.
Nicolette Conkin (Los Altos, CA/Homestead) recorded 14 points and nine rebounds, while teammate
Sydney Przygoda (Freehold, NJ/Freehold) finished with eight points and 13 rebounds.
Brigid Johndrow (Bristol, CT/St. Paul Catholic) stuffed the stat sheet with 10 points, seven rebounds, eight assists, and three steals in the win. UC is now 3-2 overall after getting back on track against MCLA.
Road Trip Ahead: Utica has two more games left in its five game home-stand, before the team begins an extended trip playing away from home. Beginning on December 15
th, at Morrisville State, the Pioneers will play seven consecutive games on the road. With conference play beginning in January, the team will have its first five Empire 8 contests played during this road trip. The road trip for UC does not end until January 18
th, when it hosts St. John Fisher.
Rebounding as a Team: As displayed in the meeting with MCLA, Utica has made an effort as a team to track down rebounds. There are five players on the team that are grabbing at least four rebounds per game.
Brigid Johndrow (Bristol, CT/St. Paul Catholic) (4.4 rpg),
Cortlynn Jepsen (Hudson, NY/Hudson) (4.8 rpg),
Briannah Florian (Fort Plain, NY/Fort Plain) (4.8 rpg),
Nicolette Conkin (Los Altos, CA/Homestead) (6.2 rpg), and
Sydney Przygoda (Freehold, NJ/Freehold) (10.8 rpg) are all making contributions on the glass. In the win over MCLA Przygoda snagged a game-high 13 rebounds, while Jepsen, Conkin, and Johndrow combined for a total of 22 boards.
Scouting Alfred State: The Alfred State Pioneers are currently struggling, as they stand at 3-4 overall and are on a three-game losing skid. Most recently the team lost, 79-49, to Buffalo State on the road. Kelsey Shaulis put up a team-high 13 points, while teammate Janae Gibson tallied nine points and 10 rebounds. Emily Kelley snagged 11 boards in the loss, as Emily Benes and Skylar Shaulis each scored eight points. The team shot 21.9% from the field (16-for-73) and 18.2% from downtown (4-for-22) in the contest.

th for another home contest against cross-town rival SUNY Poly. The game will tip-off at 2 p.m.
