Women's Hockey Sweeps Kings

WILKES-BARRE, PA- The Utica College women's hockey team used a pair of goals in each period to down host Kings College 6-0 in UCHC Conference action Sunday afternoon.  Five different players scored in the win.
 
Utica, which has now outscored its opponents 20-3 on the season, will return to action on Friday as it hosts Chatham University.  Game time is scheduled for 2 p.m.
 
Junior Ricki Haab (Stowe, VT/Stowe) opened the scoring just 3:50 into the first period as she netted her first career goal, off assists by Taylor Dion (Colchester, VT/Boston Shamrocks) and Kyra Borsoi (Brossard, Quebec/Holderness).  Junior Rebecca Brown (Steamboat Springs, CO/Norwich University) added an insurance tally at 12:25 when she put in her team-leading fifth goal of the year, assisted by Olivia Hirschy (Fort Wayne, IN/Culver Academies).
 
Haab found the back of the net for the second time at 3:40 of the second stanza.  Dion and Lindsey Winter (Minneapolis, MN/Armstrong Cooper) were credited with assists on the play.  Sophomore Nicole Johnson (North Easton, MA/Holderness) gave the Pioneers a 4-0 lead just 3:23 later when she buried a feed from Shae Counts (Arvada, CO/Alaska Stars)Maddie Paydos (Simsbury, CT/Vermont Academy) also assisted on Johnson's first of the year.
 
Paydos then netted her first collegiate goal at 3:31 of the third period and classmate Georgiana Santullo (Woburn, MA/Boston Shamrocks/Woburn High School) added her third of the year at the 8-minute mark to cap off the scoring.  Colby Begis (Little Elm, TX/Dallas Stars) and Lexi Stanisewski (Lawrence, MA/Boston Shamrocks) added assists in the final frame.
 
Sophomore Gabrielle Igo (Phoenix, AZ/Northern Cyclones) made 19 saves in the win, while Emma Zeveney and Kiva Sierra Stoltz combined for 29 saves.
