Seniors Lead Women's Hockey Past Manhattanville

PURCHASE, NY- The Utica College women's hockey team used two second period goals and added another tally in the third period to defeat host Manhattanville College 3-1 in UCHC Conference action Saturday afternoon.

With the win, the Pioneers improve to 10-9-2 overall (5-5-2 UCHC) and they are unbeaten in their last four.  Utica is now just one point behind Manhattanville for fifth in the conference standings, and two points behind fourth-place Stevenson University. UC returns home next weekend to host Lebanon Valley.  Game time is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.

After a scoreless first period, senior Taylor Osowski (Highlands Ranch, CO/Colorado Selects) opened the scoring at 3:21 of the second as she netted her fourth goal in the last five games.  Classmate Meghan Power (Windsor, Ontario/Southwest Wildcats) assisted on the opening goal.

Utica struck again at 11:32 as senior Carlie Smith (Grimsby, Ontario/St. Catharine's Chaos) put in a feed from classmate Jennifer Arts (Lakeside, Ontario/London Devilettes) for her fourth of the year.  The Pioneers added an insurance goal at the six minute mark of the third period as Kelly Critzer (West Salem, OH/Ohio Flames) found the back of the net for her second of the year, assisted by Veronique Lortie (Chambly, Quebec/Berkshire School).

The Valiants were finally able to get on the board at 7:35 of the third period as Sarah Sinning scored the only goal for the home team on the weekend.

Sophomore Bria Reilly (Hamden, CT/Brewster Academy) had another strong showing in net as she turned aside 28-of-29 shots she faced and held Manhattanville scoreless on six power plays.  Her counterpart, Rose Pijaca had 30 saves in the loss.
