UTICA, NY- The Utica College women's hockey team travels to Elmira College this weekend for the UCHC final four. The Pioneers will take on top seeded Elmira College in the semifinal on Saturday at 3 p.m.
TICKET INFO: Tickets will be sold at the Murray Athletic Center starting at 1:30 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday… Ticket prices are $5.00 for adults, $3.00 for students, and children 12 & under are free.
LAST TIME OUT: The Pioneers are coming off a 4-1 win over Neumann last weekend in the UCHC quarterfinals… UC jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the first two periods before Neumann was finally able to get on the board…
Elizabeth Dohner (Highlands Ranch, CO/Colorado Selects) had two goals while
Olivia Hirschy (Fort Wayne, IN/Culver Academies) and
Kirsten Johnson (Brockville, Ontario/RSL Midget Thunder AA) also found the back of the net… Senior

TOURNAMENT HISTORY: Utica is making its 16th post-season appearance in the program's 17-year history… The Pioneers have advanced to the semifinals 15 times in program history and they have made it to the championship game twice, in 2005-06 after beating Elmira 4-1 in the semifinal, and in 2015-16 after a 5-1 win over the Soaring Eagles in the semifinal once again.
HOW THEY GOT HERE: The Pioneers finished the regular season with a 14-9-2 record overall and they placed fourth in the conference with a 9-5-2 mark in UCHC play… With the quarterfinal win over Neumann, Utica has now won 15 games in a season for the eighth time in program history… UC is riding the highs of a nine-game unbeaten streak and the Pioneers are 8-1-2 in their last 11… Elmira took the top seed in the tournament after going unbeaten in conference play (15-0-1)… Elmira's only blemish was a 2-2 tie against second seeded William Smith.
FINISHING STRONG: The third period has been UC's best period this year… The Pioneers are outshooting opponents 337-175 in the final 20 minutes, and they have out scored opponents 34-17 in the third period this year.
LEADING THE WAY: Sophomore transfer
Rebecca Brown (Steamboat Springs, CO/Norwich University) leads the team with 23 points (six goals, 17 assists)… She has one goal and eight assists in her last five games… Classmate
Olivia Hirschy (Fort Wayne, IN/Culver Academies) has a team-high 12 goals and she has also tallied nine points in the last five games (seven goals, two assists).
HELPING OUT: Junior
Elizabeth Dohner (Highlands Ranch, CO/Colorado Selects) ranks second on the team with 21 points… She set a new career-high with nine goals this season and she has matched the highest point total of her career with 21… Utica is 7-1 this season when Dohner scores at least one goal.
STANISEWSKI NAMED TO ALL-ROOKIE TEAM: Freshman
Lexi Stanisewski (Lawrence, MA/Boston Shamrocks) was named to the UCHC All-Rookie team, announced Tuesday… The forward has totaled five goals and added nine assists while playing in all 26 games for the Pioneers this season… She netted four goals and six assists in 16 conference games and she has registered eight points (three goals, five assists) in her last five games… She is just the second freshman to score over 10 points for Utica since the 2012-13 season… Stanisewski was also named the UCHC Rookie of the Week after assisting on the eventual game-winner against Neumann to extend her point-scoring streak to five games.
DEFENSIVE DUO: Junior
Danielle Haasbeek (Grand Forks, ND/Balmoral Hall) and her defensive partner
Samantha Husak (Jackson, MI/Belle Tire) lead the team with a +20 rating… Haasbeek has a career-high in goals (four), assists (15), and points (19), while Husak has a career-high three goals, and she has matched her career-best of 12 points... The pair has also helped lead the Utica defense that has allowed just 1.99 goals against this season.
BETWEEN THE PIPES: Sophomore
Bria Reilly (Hamden, CT/Brewster Academy) was recently named the UCHC Goalie of the Week for the second time this season… Reilly turned aside 18 shots to help the Pioneers down Neumann 4-1 in the UCHC quarterfinals on Sunday… Reilly has compiled a 1.94 goals against average and a .926 save percentage in 12 games this year.
SCOUTING ELMIRA: The Soaring Eagles are ranked No. 3 in both national polls… They have racked up a 21-2-2 overall record and they went unbeaten in the UCHC with a 15-0-1 mark in the conference… Elmira is led by senior Sarah Hughson. Who was named the UCHC Offensive Player of the Year after netting 22 goals and adding 18 assists in 25 games, and Kelsey Crawford, the UCHC Goalie of the year… Crawford holds a 1.10 goals against average and a .954 save percentage.
AGAINST THE SOARING EAGLES: Utica is 1-5-1 against Elmira in the last three years… UC is 3-4 all-time against the Soaring Eagles in the playoffs, last beating them 5-1 at Plattsburgh on March. 5, 2016… The Pioneers dropped both games against Elmira during the regular season (5-2, 5-1).
THE OTHER SEMIFINAL: The winner of Saturday's game will face the winner of the William Smith-Stevenson semifinal… William Smith earned the No. 2 seed in the tournament after going 11-2-3 in conference play (16-5-4 overall)… William Smith was the only team to tie Elmira, and they took the Soaring Eagles to overtime both games… Stevenson picked up the third seed in the tournament and is riding a 15-game unbeaten streak in which the Mustangs have gone 11-0-4.
