Women's Lacrosse Cruises to Win Over Southern Vermont

SPARKS, MD- The Utica College women's lacrosse team scored early and often as it downed Southern Vermont College 19-0 in non-conference action Wednesday at the US Lacrosse Headquarters.  13 different players scored on the day for UC.
 
Junior Katie McDowell (Wynantskill, NY/Averill Park) led Utica with three goals and one assist, while classmate Natalie Capriglione (New Milford, CT/New Milford) was right behind her with three points (two goals, one assist).  Freshmen Brianna Colley (Staten Island, NY/Petrides), Hannah Nordstrom (Fairhaven, MA/Fairhaven), and Brittany Nowak (Eden, NY/Eden), as well as sophomores Kaleigh Dwyer (Denville, NJ/Morris Knolls), Kristi Pearage (Bear Creek Township, PA/James M. Coughlin), Maddie Behan (Syracuse, NY/Jamesville Dewitt), and Rebecca Brown (Steamboat Springs, CO/Norwich University) each scored their first goals as Pioneers. 
 
Stephanie Husnay (Canastota, NY/Whitesboro), Lauren Wollf, Noelle Capriglione (New Milford, CT/New Milford), and Brooke Miller (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) also found the back of the net.
 
Natalie Capriglione (New Milford, CT/New Milford) led the Pioneers with five caused turnovers and six ground balls, while Brittany Nowak (Eden, NY/Eden) won a team-high four draw controls.  Amanda Lupo (Auburn, NY/Skaneateles) and Abigail Rogan (Clinton, NY/Clinton) each saw time in net in the win. 
 
The Pioneers, who have now outscored their opponents 36-5 over the last two games, improve to 3-2 on the season.  They will return to action next Wednesday as they travel to nearby Morrisville State.  Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
