UTICA, NY — The Utica College men's lacrosse team will look to get back on track Wednesday as it hosts cross-town rival, SUNY Poly. Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
 
Current Record: The Pioneers are currently an even 5-5 overall this season and 2-1 in Empire 8 Conference play... They are tied for the second spot in the E8 standings with Alfred University and Hartwick College.
 
Last Time Out: Utica hosted the No. 13 Ducks of Stevens Institute of Technology on Saturday, falling 24-1, marking their first loss in conference action thus far… Senior attack Nick Yelich (Lancaster, NY/Depew) had UC's only goal in the contest while Nick Alexander (New Hartford, NY/New Hartford) had five ground balls and two caused turnovers… Ryan Boshart (Fayetteville, NY/Fayetteville-Manlius) played for 41:05 between the pipes and had 13 saves in the loss.
 
Leading the Way: Senior Ryan Desveaux (Bowmanville, ONT/St. Stephen Catholic) leads the team with 26 goals and he is tied for the team-lead with 27 points… Desveaux ranks fourth in the College's record book with 90 career goals… Classmate Nick Yelich (Lancaster, NY/Depew) is tied with Desveaux with a team-high 27 points… He has scored a career-high 16 goals this season and needs just three more points to match his career-best of 30 points in a season… Yelich is in the midst of a 25-game scoring streak, dating back to April 27, 2016.
 
Shot Snatcher: Boshart is making his mark between the pipes this season… He currently leads all goalies on the team with a record of 3-1... He ranks first in the conference with a .664 save percentage, is second in saves per game (11.83), and fifth in goals against average (9.14). 
 
Scouting SUNY Poly: The Wildcats are currently 7-1 this season and 2-1 in NEAC play… SUNY Poly's only loss comes at the hands of Hilbert College by a score of 5-4... The Wildcats have scored 91 goals this year averaging 11.38 per game... They are led by juniors Daniel Rivie and Charles Rosaschi who have combined for 57 points this season... Rivie has 22 goals and four assists, while Rosaschi has netted 20 goals and added nine assists.
 
Last Meeting: In last year's meeting, UC came out on top 19-8... Jake Bratek (Syracuse, NY/Jamesville-Dewitt) had three goals and two assists for the Pioneers while Ryan Desveaux (Bowmanville, ONT/St. Stephen Catholic) added a goal and an assist.
 
Looking Ahead: The Pioneers return to E8 action on Saturday when they travel to St. John Fisher College to take on the Cardinals. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
