BROCKPORT, NY- Junior goal keeper
Allison Wagner (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua Academy) made a career-high 19 saves, but it was not enough as the Utica College women's soccer team suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of The College at Brockport in the Pioneers' 2018 season-opener Friday night.

The Golden Eagles outshot Utica 15-5 in the first half, yet neither team was able to find the back of the net as the score was knotted 0-0 after 45 minutes. Brockport turned up the pressure in the second half and was finally able to break through in the 88
th minute as Myriah Saar netted her first of the year off a scramble in front. Marissa Greiner was credited with the assist on the play.

The Golden Eagles outshot UC 20-0 in the second stanza, but Wagner held her ground, turning aside nine shots before Brockport was able to get one behind her. Wagner now moves up to third on the College's all-time list with 308 career saves, passing Pioneer Hall of Famer Ashley Kaufman, who had 306 saves in her illustrious career.

The Pioneers will look to rebound Saturday as they travel to SUNY Geneseo. Game time is scheduled for 3 p.m.
