Utica, NY – The Utica College women's soccer team was on the road as it faced off against SUNY Geneseo on Saturday. The Pioneers fell to the Knights by a final score of 4-0.
Geneseo got on the scoreboard early in the first half, going up 1-0 just 7:27 into the game. Despite allowing 19 shots and four corner kick opportunities in the opening half, UC remained behind by just one goal heading into halftime.
The Knights turned it up a notch in the second half, with three more unanswered to pull away from Utica. The Pioneers were unable to find the back of the net in the match, dropping to 0-2 after opening weekend.

Allison Wagner (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua Academy) made six saves in the game, after facing a total of 32 shots during her time in net.
SUNY Geneseo goals were scored by Domenica Piccoli, Miranda Ozimek, Ashley Byrne, and Julia Ophals. Ozimek and teammate Nicole Bell recorded assists in the game for the Knights. Emily Janiszewski made just one save as the goalkeeper on her way to earning the shutout, and securing a 2-0 record for the team.
The Pioneers are back on the pitch Wednesday, September 5
th, as the hit the road again to battle Buffalo State. The match is set to kick-off at 6:30 p.m.
