PLATTSBURGH, NY- The Utica College volleyball team dropped both games on day two of the Cardinal Classic, hosted by Plattsburgh State on Saturday. UC fell to host Plattsburgh 3-0 in the first game and then lost to SUNY Canton 3-0 to end the weekend.

Senior
Nicole Herringshaw (Syracuse, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) had a game-high 12 kills, while classmate
Marissa Faroni (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) contributed 18 assists to lead the offense. Sophomore
Megan Rice (Leverett, MA/Amherst Regional) chipped in with six kills.
Defensively,
Hannah Voss (St. Louis, MO/Oakville) led the way with 10 digs, while sophomores
Meaghan Romaguera (Stone Ridge, NY/Rondout) and
Briana Toledo (Ardsley, NY/Ardsley) each had six digs. Herringshaw and Romaguera each had two blocks in the loss.
Utica 0, SUNY Canton 3- Game Two Final
After dropping the first set and trailing 18-12 in the second set, the Pioneers scored seven straight points to take a 19-18 lead. The teams traded the next few points before Canton was able to come away with the 25-22 victory in set number two. The Roos went on to take the third set 25-12 to earn the 3-0 straight-set victory.
This time it was sophomore
Megan Rice (Leverett, MA/Amherst Regional) who led the Utica attack as she totaled seven kills, followed by
Nicole Herringshaw (Syracuse, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) and
Meaghan Romaguera (Stone Ridge, NY/Rondout), who had four kills apiece.
Marissa Faroni (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) had 15 assists.
Herringshaw led the way with a game-high five blocks, while
Hannah Voss (St. Louis, MO/Oakville) and
Marissa Faroni (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) had 13 digs and 10 digs, respectively.
Next up, the Pioneers will travel to the University of Rochester Tournament next weekend. UC will play three games, starting with U of R on Friday at 7 p.m. Utica will then take on Wells College (11 a.m.) and Medaille College (1 p.m.) on Saturday.
