ROCHESTER, NY- The Utica College volleyball team suffered a 3-0 defeat Friday night at the hands of host University of Rochester in the opening game of the U of R invitational.
 
Senior Nicole Herringshaw (Syracuse, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) led the way for the Pioneers with nine kills, while Meaghan Romaguera (Stone Ridge, NY/Rondout) had five kills and Megan Rice (Leverett, MA/Amherst Regional) added one.  Senior Marissa Faroni (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) aided the offense with 10 assists and classmate Miranda Stockbridge (Waterville, NY/Waterville) chipped in with one assist.
 
Defensively, Briana Toledo (Ardsley, NY/Ardsley) had a team-high six digs, while Romaguera had five digs and Faroni tallied four digs.
 
The Pioneers return to action Saturday for a pair of games beginning with a showdown with Wells College (11 a.m.) and capping off with a match against Medaille at 1 p.m.
