Women's Soccer Hosts Two-Game Set This Weekend

Utica, NY – The Utica College women's soccer team will be at home for the first time this season over the course of a two-game weekend. UC will host SUNY Potsdam for a 6 p.m. start on Friday and then will take on Clarkson University at home on Saturday at 4 p.m.

Last Time Out: The Pioneers earned their first win of the season in their last matchup, coming by way of a 4-0 victory over SUNY Canton. Kierra Caissey (Gardner, MA/Gardner) led the way with a two-goal performance for UC. She received assists from teammate Abby Reilly (Brookfield, NY/Brookfield) on both scoring plays. Reilly also notched one goal on the day, as did Shaelin Siniscarco (New Hartford, NY/New Hartford). Mikayla Blumenstock (Poland, NY/Poland) and Gabrielle Esposito (Rotterdam, NY/Mohonasen) both recorded an assist in the win. Allison Wagner (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua Academy) made three saves in 45 minutes of time in net, before Emily Hill (Watertown, CT/Watertown) came on for the second half. UC's record improved to 1-2-1 after the weekend.

Tracking Wagner: Junior goalkeeper Allison Wagner (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua Academy) has made 36 total saves so far this year, as she looks to move up the ladder for all-time career saves in UC history. With a career total of 325 stops heading into the weekend set of games, Wagner is just four saves away from becoming second all-time in career saves.

Scouting Potsdam: The Bears have started their season off strong, with an overall record of 5-1 after recently taking down SUNY Canton, 5-0. Potsdam appears to have a knack for scoring the ball, as the team has notched 21 total goals early in the season. UC fell to Potsdam, 3-2, last season on the road. Brooke Falsion leads the Bears with 14 points coming from six goals and two assists. Teammate Rylie Murray is seeing the field well, which is demonstrated by her stat line of two goals and five assists.

Scouting Clarkson: The Golden Knights are currently 2-1-1 overall in 2018, thanks to a recent 2-0 win over SUNY Cortland. Clarkson's only loss on the year came at the hands of SUNY Potsdam. Giula Mahoney is the team's top point scorer, as she has registered three assists and three goals. Summer Gillespie has two scores under her belt, while teammate Alicia Bushey has made two assists. Clarkson goalkeeper, Elyse Green, has tallied two shutouts already this season.

Looking Ahead: After hosting a pair of games over the weekend Utica will be out on the road Wednesday, September 19th to face-off against Nazareth College to open up Empire 8 Conference play. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
