Utica, NY – The Utica College men's soccer team hosted the Saxons from Alfred University on Saturday to open up Empire 8 Conference play. UC fell in overtime, as Alfred walked away with the 1-0 victory.

Jonathan Side (Plattsburgh, NY/Plattsburgh) made five saves in the match, including a stop on Alfred's penalty kick opportunity in the first half. The Pioneers are now 2-4-1 overall on the year and start conference play at 0-1.
Alfred University outshot Utica 11-5, as the overtime goal by Alexander Tostanoski improves the team's record to 2-5 overall and 1-0 in E8 competition.
The Pioneers are back in action next Saturday, as they welcome the St. John Fisher Cardinals for more Empire 8 play. The match is set to begin at 3 p.m.
