ROCHESTER, NY- The Utica College men's soccer team picked up its first win in Empire 8 Conference play Saturday as it topped host Nazareth College 2-1.
Junior
Tucker Marvin (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) got the Pioneers on the board in the 15
th minute as he netted his first of the year. The score remained the same for nearly 60 minutes before sophomore
Patrick Hynes (Glenmont, NY/Bethlehem) put in a feed from
Thomas Muller (Camillus, NY/Bishop Ludden) to give UC an insurance tally.
The Golden Flyers cut the lead in half with just over ten minutes remaining as Jake Adams found the back of the net for his fourth of the year, assisted by Francesco Viavattene. Despite putting pressure on the Pioneers, Naz was unable to get the equalizer as it suffered its first E8 loss of the season.
Sophomore
Randy Miksch (Lake Villa, IL/Warren Township) made nine saves to pick up his second straight win. His counterpart, Brian Wilkin, made four saves in the loss.
The Pioneers (4-5-1) return to action Wednesday as they host local rival, Hamilton College. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
