UTICA, NY (September 6, 2018) – The Utica College women's soccer team will face SUNY Canton on Saturday in the Pioneers fourth straight road game to open the season. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
Last Time Out: The Pioneers (0-2-1) are coming of a 0-0 draw against Buffalo State Wednesday. UC managed eight shots (five on target) throughout the game. Junior
Allison Wagner (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua Academy) had eight saves and her first shut out of the season in 110 minutes.
Guarding The Goal: Wagner is leading the Empire 8 in saves with 33 for the Pioneers. Despite the 1-0 loss against Brockport (Aug 31), Wagner put up a strong performance with 19 saves facing 35 shot attempts (20 on target).
Scouting SUNY Canton: The Kangaroos are currently 2-1 this season. They won a 2-1 game in overtime against Morrisville State College. Senior Jaedyn Ossont and sophomore Madison Rowe scored a goal to secure their victory.
Against SUNY Canton: The last time Utica faced SUNY Canton was in 2016. The Pioneers managed to win 5-0 against the Kangaroos. Ciara McIlvenny scored a hat trick and was followed by
Keri Berkowitz (Racine, WI/Racine Saint Catherine's) and
Amanda Pawlikowski (Vernon, NY/Vernon Verona Sherrill) who scored a goal each.
Looking Ahead: The Pioneers return home on Friday (Sep 14) against SUNY Potsdam. This will be their first home game of the season. Game time is scheduled for 6 p.m.
