Women's Tennis Has Busy Weekend

Utica, NY – The Utica College women's tennis team has two matchups this weekend, as it travels to play Stevens and then returns to host SUNY Delhi. Saturday's road match with Stevens begins at 12 p.m., while Sunday's home contest against Delhi is set for 1 p.m.

Last Time Out: In the team's last match, it fell to Hartwick College at home. Despite good individual efforts, the visiting Hawks walked away with the 9-0 win over UC. It was the first outing of the 2018 season for the Pioneers, as their records currently stands at 0-1 heading into the weekend.

Scouting Stevens: This will be the first tennis match of the season for the Ducks, after making it to the Empire 8 Tournament Championship last fall. Stevens held a 7-1 record against Empire 8 opponents and defeated St. John Fisher in the E8 Tournament Semi-Finals before falling 5-4 to Nazareth in the Championship round.

Scouting Delhi: SUNY Delhi is 0-1 after opening its season against Sage, losing 6-3 on the road. The Broncos will do battle with Hartwick on Friday before coming to UC for Sunday's matchup. Last season Utica went 2-0 against Delhi and will look to repeat that success this time around.

Looking Ahead: The Pioneers have another busy weekend coming up with a road matchup against Alfred and a home contest with Plattsburgh. The team faces Alfred on Saturday at 1 p.m. before hosting Plattsburgh on Sunday at 1 p.m.
