Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Offense Comes Alive as Utica Tops Canton 4-0

The Utica College women's soccer team is now unbeaten in its last two games as the Pioneers earned a convincing 4-0 victory over host SUNY Canton in non-conference action on Saturday.  Utica's Kierra Caissey (Gardner, MA/Gardner) netted two goals, while senior Abby Reilly (Brookfield, NY/Brookfield) played a part in three of the four goals (one goal, two assists).

The Pioneers (1-2-1) are now set to host their home opener on Friday at 6 p.m. against SUNY Potsdam.

After 30 minutes of scoreless action, Caissey broke the 0-0 tie with her first tally of the season after a nice through ball from Reilly.  Reilly then gave the Pioneers a 2-0 lead 2:31 into the second half when she took a through ball from Mikayla Blumenstock (Poland, NY/Poland) and finished into the back of the net.  Gabrielle Espisito started the transition goal and also earned an assist.

Shaelin Siniscarco (New Hartford, NY/New Hartford) then netted her first collegiate goal when she rebounded a tipped ball into the back of the net to put the Pioneers on top 3-0 in the 65th minute.  Kierra Caissey (Gardner, MA/Gardner) closed the door on the contest with her second of the night, assisted again by Abby Reilly (Brookfield, NY/Brookfield), to close out the scoring on the day with the Pioneers on top 4-0.

Junior goalie Allison Wagner (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua Academy) stopped three shots on the day and earned her second straight shutout.  Emily Hill (Watertown, CT/Watertown) saw her first collegiate action between the pipes, but was not called upon to make a save as the Pioneers dominated play.

Utica out shot Canton 30-7 on the afternoon and also earned a 7-4 corner kick advantage.

Canton's record fell to 2-2 overall on the season.
