HOBOKEN, NJ- Stevens Institute of Technology held the Utica College women's basketball team to just 17 points in the second half as the Ducks came from behind to down the Pioneers 53-44 in Empire 8 Conference action Saturday afternoon.

The Pioneers jumped out to an 11-2 lead 5:18 into the contest and went on to take an 18-8 ledger after the first quarter. Utica kept up the pressure to make the score 27-14 with just over two minutes remaining in the first half, but Stevens was able to rattle off the next six points to close out the half with UC leading 27-20. Stevens held Utica to just six points in the third quarter, while netting 17 of its own to take the lead and kept up the pressure in the fourth quarter to seal the victory.Â

Freshman
Sydney Przygoda (Freehold, NJ/Freehold) grabbed a career-best 20 rebounds, including 11 in the first quarter alone, and added 15 points to collect her sixth straight double-double. Junior
Nicolette Conkin (Los Altos, CA/Homestead) also had 15 points, including 3-of-5 shooting from behind the arc.Â

Brigid Johndrow (Bristol, CT/St. Paul Catholic),
Petrina DeMarco (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro),
Cora Sawyer (New London, CT/New London), and
Kimberly Soriano (Queens, NY/Monsignor McClancey Memorial) also chipped in offensively, with Johndrow dishing out a team-high four assists.

Stevens was led by Jess Broad, who netted 17 points in 25 minutes off the bench, while Maddi Hahn had 14 points and four steals for the Ducks.

The Pioneers (6-5, 1-1 Empire 8) look to rebound on Friday as they travel to Alfred University for and E8 match up. Game time is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
