ONEONTA, NY- The Utica College volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to host Hartwick College in Empire 8 Conference action Friday evening.
 
The Pioneers dropped each of the first two sets by scores of 25-16.  With the score tied 18-18 in the third set, Hartwick rattled off six straight points to force a match point.  Utica was able to get one back, but the home team quickly responded to earn the decisive point. 
 
Senior 
Lindsey Hannel (Victor, NY/Victor) led the way with seven kills, while freshman 
Alicja Swiechowska (Carmel, NY/Carmel) had five kills, and 
Kurstan Martin (Owego, NY/Tioga) chipped in with four.  Sophomore 
Rosemarie Fesko (Goshen, NY/Central) had a team-leading two service aces, while Martin and freshman 
Eleanor Cepiel (West Sand Lake, NY/Academy of Holy Names) each had one ace.  Cepiel aided the offense with 11 assists, while 
Brenna Stanton (Chittenango, NY/Chittenango) chipped in with eight assists of her own.  
 
Defensively, Cepiel led the way with nine digs, while 
Briana Toledo (Ardsley, NY/Ardsley) had eight, and Stanton was right behind them with seven digs to her credit.  
 
The Pioneers turn right around on Saturday to host Elmira College.  Game time is scheduled for 3 p.m.
