Women's Basketball Puts Win Streak on the Line at Oneonta on Tuesday

UTICA, NY – The Utica College women's basketball team looks to stay undefeated as the 3-0 Pioneers travel to Oneonta on Tuesday to face the 1-2 Red Dragons in a non-conference matchup. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
 
LAST TIME OUT: Sophomore Sydney Przygoda (Freehold, NJ/Freehold) led the Pioneers to victory with another spectacular performance with 21 points, seven rebounds and four steals. She has scored in the double digits in all three of her games so far this season, including back-to-back outings with at least 20 points. Senior Nicolette Conkin (Los Altos, CA/Homestead) shot 50 percent against Wells finishing with 14 points, six steels, six assists and two rebounds. Aside from Przygoda and Conkin, three other players had at least 10 points in the contest including sophomore Petrina DeMarco (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) (11), junior Kimberly Soriano (Queens, NY/Monsignor McClancy Memorial) (11) and senior Marissa Woods (Westampton, NJ/Rancocas Valley) (10).
 
HOT STREAK: It has been 10 years since the Utica College women's basketball team started its season off with a 3-0 record. The Pioneers continue to stay red hot, outscoring their opponents 266-121 through the first three games. 
 
TEAM LEADERS: Sydney Przygoda (Freehold, NJ/Freehold) leads the team with 60 points and 31 rebounds, and she has also dished out four assists through three games. Nicolette Conkin (Los Altos, CA/Homestead) leads the team with 18 assists and is right behind Przygoda with 55 points. The team as a whole recorded a game-high 22 steals against Wells College.
 
EMPIRE 8 LEADERS: Pryzgoda is one of only two players in the conference averaging a double-double each game. She leads the E8 with 20 points per game and she is second in rebounds per game (10.3). Conkin is second in both scoring and assists, averaging 18.3 points and 6.0 assists per game. Petrina DeMarco (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) ranks in the top 20 averaging 10.7 points per game. Kristine Miller (Red Hook, NY/Red Hook) is ranked ninth in the conference with two blocked shots. 
 
SCOUTING ONEONTA: The Red Dragons are led by Casey Hayes with 29 points, 15 rebounds and four assists. Kelsey Terrell leads the team with six assists on the season. Leanne Corso has a team-best 18 rebounds, 16 of which have come from defensive rebounds. 
 
LOOKING AHEAD: The Pioneers travel to North Adams, Massachusetts on Saturday to face MCLA in a non-conference matchup. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m.
