UTICA, NY- The Utica College women's hockey team ran out of gas Saturday as it fell to nationally ranked No. 3 Elmira College 7-0 in UCHC Conference play. The Soaring Eagles used a four-goal third period to pull away.
Elmira's Jess Adams finished with a hat trick on the day, while Devyn Gilman had two assists. Overall five different players found the back of the net for the visitors.
Utica held strong through the first two periods, as the Pioneers trailed in shots on goal by just 17-14 through the first 40 minutes. The Soaring Eagles used three goals in the first 6:33 of the third and added another tally at the halfway point to come away with their fourth win of the season.

Bria Reilly (Hamden, CT/Brewster Academy) and
Savannah Gutierrez (Huntington Beach, CA/Anaheim Lady Ducks) combined for 28 saves in the loss, while Elmira's Elizabeth Hanson had 19 saves in the shutout.
The Pioneers (3-3, 3-2 UCHC) return to action on Saturday as they travel to Amherst College for a non-conference match up. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
