UC Swim & Dive Tops Cazenovia

Cazenovia, NY - The Utica College men's and women's swim and dive team topped Cazenovia in convincing fashion Friday night. The men's team took the dual meet 140-15 and the women's team did the same with a 96-65 victory.

The 200 yard mixed medley relay was the first event, and the squad of Kate Anderson (Lynbrook, NY/Lynbrook), Michael Leyburn (Monson, MA/Monson), Lucas DiLego (Oneida, NY/Oneida) and Daniela Hannah (Dalton, GA/Northwest Whitfield) took home first place with a time of 1:59.75.

Hannah, Anderson, Emily Czerwonka (Souderton, PA/Souderton Area) Kelly Waryncia (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) all notched individual first place finishes as well. Czerwonka and Waryncia finished first in the 1000 yard freestyle (13:37.37) and 100 yard backstroke (1:16.50), respectively. 

Hannah and Anderson were the sole Pioneers to tab two first-place finishes. Hannah did so in the 200 yard freestyle (2:19.44) and 500 yard backstroke (6:19.44), while Anderson tabbed first-place finishes in the 50 (28.86) and 100 yard (1:04.31) freestyle.

On the men's side, Jackson Sorbello (Rome, NY/RFA) led the way with three first place finishes in the 100 yard IM (1:02.80), 100 yard butterfly (1:06.32) and 100 yard backstroke (1:07.93). Sean Neary (Marlborough, CT/Montana State) notched two top-place finishes as well in the 50 (25.24) and 100 yard (59.70) freestyle.

Coleman Barry (Levittown, NY/Division) and Phillip Ross (Newark, NY/Newark) all rounded out the UC sheet with first place finishes as well. Barry notched his first place finish in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:39.03, while Ross did so in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 2:12.88.

The Utica College swim & dive team will return to action Friday, January 17 at 6 p.m on the road against Alfred University.
