Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey |

Dohner Leads Women's Hockey Past Wilkes

WILKES-BARRE, PA- The Utica College women's hockey team snapped a three-game losing streak Friday as it cruised to an 8-0 rout of Wilkes University.  Senior Elizabeth Dohner (Highlands Ranch, CO/Colorado Selects) tallied a natural hat trick and led UC with four goals on the day.

Dohner opened the scoring at 16:04 of the first as she put in a feed from Lexi Stanisewski (Lawrence, MA/Boston Shamrocks) for her ninth of the season.  Senior Noelle Capriglione (New Milford, CT/New Milford) also assisted on the play.

Utica broke the game open with five goals in the second period, including three more by Dohner, coming just 1:17 apart.  Freshman Georgiana Santullo (Woburn, MA/Boston Shamrocks/Woburn High School) and Nicole Johnson (North Easton, MA/Holderness) also found the back of the net in the second stanza.

Katrina Cornick (Mason City, IA/Rocky Mountain Roughriders) and Olivia Hirschy (Fort Wayne, IN/Culver Academies) capped off the scoring with one goal each in the third period.  In all, 11 different players tallied at least one point.  Santullo finished with a goal and an assist, while Stanisewski led UC with two helpers on the day.  Kyra Borsoi (Brossard, Quebec/Holderness), Kayla Dion (Colchester, VT/Boston Shamrocks), Lindsey Winter (Minneapolis, MN/Armstrong Cooper), and Ricki Haab (Stowe, VT/Stowe) each finished with one assist.

Freshman Savannah Gutierrez (Huntington Beach, CA/Anaheim Lady Ducks) picked up the shutout in just her second collegiate start.  Utica out shot Wilkes 74-6 on the day and the Pioneers went 2-for-4 on the power play.

The teams wrap up the series Saturday in Utica.  Game time is 3 p.m.  Prior to the start of the game, UC will honor their seven seniors in a special pre-game ceremony.
