Utica has now won its last three season-openers.  The Pioneers will return to action on Wednesday as they travel across town to nearby SUNY Poly for a match up against the Wildcats.  Game time is scheduled for 3 p.m.

Coughlin) each had two goals to give the Pioneers a commanding lead.

Morrisville netted two goals in the second half, both off the stick of Melissa Lucciola, but the Pioneer defense held strong.  UC scored six of the game's final seven goals to secure the victory.

Scarpinella led UC with five points on the day (two goals, three assists), while Wolff was right behind her with four points (two goals, two assists).  Husnay finished with two goals and one assist, while DuMont and senior Katie McDowell (Wynantskill, NY/Averill Park) each found the back of the net twice.

Freshmen Lexi Scaccia (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro), Emily Rossi (Verona, NY/Vernon-Verona-Sherrill), and Addison Green (Marcy, NY/Whitesboro) each netted their first collegiate goals in the win.  Junior Kaitlynn Palmer (Verona, NY/VVS) also had a goal and sophomore Sydney Scaccia (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) totaled one assist.

Lexi Scaccia (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) led Utica with five draw controls, while DuMont had a team-high four caused turnovers.  Wolff meanwhile scooped up five groundballs.  Junior Hali Vandermeulen (Walden, NY/Valley Central) and freshman Claire Frier (Lafayette, NY/Lafayette) combined for 12 saves on the day, while their counterpart, Kadi Bice, finished with 12 saves to her credit.
